Sweet 16 parties are becoming a big production. Thanks to MTV (My Sweet 16)reality show. Some parents don't mind paying the cost. Having a Sweet 16 party is second to planning their future wedding. If you are on a budget there are many ways to have a successful Sweet 16 for your son or daughter. You should be creative when picking a location. You can use your home or yard, banquet hall, restaurant, hotel, golf club, local park and rent a tent, community center. The size of the location space depends on the number of guest you plan to invite, keep in mind your budget. Making your own invitation can help cut cost, you can be very creative on how you give them out. Make sure you request RSVP 's as soon as possible. It's important to know the number of guest that will attend for cost of food, favors, ect. Also include a start and ending time. The longer the party last the more expensive it will be. Most places you pay for the number of hours you will occupied the space, if you hire a photographer, videographer or DJ's they to are paid by the hour. What about a theme? You should schedule the arrival time for your guest to greet - guest of honor ( making a special entrance) also schedule how the evening will go( entertainment, food, dancing, cake cutting, presentation of gifts). Its important to make sure all guest have transportation home or picked up by a parent.

Did you know when this tradition was originated and why?

This tradition most likely originated with an African ritual in which a broom is used to demonstrate that all past problems have been swept away. During slave days, African-Americans were forbidden to marry and live together, so jumping over a broom was a formal and public declaration of the couple's commitment. Today, it has become very popular for African-American couples to follow suit at the conclusion of their wedding ceremony. The broom, often handmade and beautifully decorated, can be displayed in the couple's home after the wedding.

Wedding Favors

Wedding favors is always a wonderful memento for your guest, most times the favor in on the table in front of your seat or on a table as you leave the event, one for each and every guest. Why do the guest feel they can take part of your decor?( large picture frames, crystals, feathers, the centerpieces) If bride & groom, or the event planner does not give it to you. It's not an memento for the guest to take, even if the person name and date is on it. Just part of the decor!
